What can you make for breakfast, lunch or dinner when you want something tasty, simple and a little different from the usual? Here you’ll find recipes made with everyday ingredients — fish, legumes, vegetables, grains, eggs, dairy products, fruit and fresh herbs. Some dishes are richer in protein, others in fibre or healthy fats, but above all, this is straightforward home cooking that makes everyday meals more varied — with the needs of your skin and hair in mind, too.

Sometimes the hardest part is not cooking itself, but deciding what to make for dinner, how to change up your usual breakfast or how to put together a meal from what you already have at home. That is why this section brings together simple everyday recipes: fish and legume dishes, salads, breakfasts, vegetable dishes, grains and homemade desserts.

There is no separate menu here “for beautiful skin” and no list of foods you are supposed to eat for the sake of your hair. Nutrition does not work that way. What matters much more is what appears on your plate regularly over the course of a day and a week: different sources of protein, vegetables and fruit, legumes, grains, fish, eggs, dairy products, nuts and other everyday foods. That is why you will find ideas for what to make with fish, lentils, chickpeas or beans, how to turn a salad into a complete meal, what to add to breakfast and what to bake to have with tea. A dessert made with apples or nuts does not automatically become a “beauty dessert”, just as one plate of vegetables does not define your entire diet. What matters more is how different meals complement one another and how varied your overall menu is.

There are plenty of ways to choose a recipe. You may need a quick breakfast before work, a filling salad for lunch, a simple fish dish for dinner or a way to use up a tin of beans, some leftover lentils or the vegetables sitting in your fridge. Some recipes are designed for busy weekdays, while others take a little more time, but we try to avoid hard-to-find ingredients, unnecessarily complicated techniques and extra steps that make little difference to the final dish.

When it comes to skin and hair, we are less interested in finding one special food than in whether the body is getting enough building blocks and a broad range of nutrients from the diet as a whole. Protein is needed for tissue renewal, fats are part of cell membranes and help the body absorb fat-soluble vitamins, while vegetables, fruit, legumes and grains provide fibre, vitamins, minerals and a range of bioactive compounds. Fish, eggs, dairy products, legumes, nuts and seeds add even more variety — and that variety matters more than trying to identify a single “healthiest” ingredient. For us, a good recipe is not the one with the longest list of nutrients attached to it. It should be clear, tasty, logically put together and something you would genuinely want to make again. That is why fish with vegetables, a bean salad, porridge with berries, homemade crumble or another dessert can all sit comfortably in the same section. They can all be part of an everyday diet that combines nourishment, enjoyment and room for foods that support the needs of skin, hair and overall wellbeing.
